About the Artist

Willem Hendriks Jr was born in the outskirts of Brussels, in the Netherlands, the son of the established Dutch artist Willem Hendriks Sr.

Whilst his father’s work embraced the more realistic style of the late the 19th century, Hendriks Jr was more interested in painting the landscape in a more impressionistic style, shaping a scene using his own interpretation and ‘impression’ of what he saw and transferring it on to the canvas. Hendriks Jr soon became well known for his landscapes of woodland scenes, often with cows lazily grazing in the dapple shade and a stream running past.
