ARTIST

ALBERT LEBOURG

An early practitioner in the Impressionist movement, Lebourgs landscapes demonstrate his skill as a masterful colourist and as a painter of light and atmosphere. He painted en plein-air and particularly delighted in capturing the banks of the Seine, depicted with a wonderful subtlety. At a young age, Lebourg travelled extensively and taught drawing at the cole des Beaux-Arts in Algiers. These early experiences greatly influenced his work and the pure, bright colours that he used whilst in Algiers are apparent in his mesmerising French river scenes.
