Michael Felmingham was born in 1935, in Worcestershire.
Felmingham taught at the Coventry Collage of Art from 1968 until 1989. In 1977 a major retrospective exhibition of this work was held at the Herbert Art Gallery. Over the years he has won many notible awards, such as the Saaunders Waterford Prize in 1981. Felmingham has been exhibiting for over 40 years in the United Kingdom, and appeared at the Glawell & Patterson gallery in 2004.
Michael Felmignham's first visit to Venice was in 1974, and he has returned many times since then in order to depict this captivating city in his artwork. Although he is well known for his watercolours, Felmingham also creates beautiful paintings of Venice with oil on board. His ability to capture the movement of the water and the reflection of the light is evident in his paintings.
