Painting perfection. On land or at sea (Monaco Yacht Show)

Monaco exhibtion 2The 24th edition of the Monaco Yacht Show was held from 24 – 27 September in the Principality on the Côte d’Azur.

The show in Port Hercules brings together the whole industry of pleasure and super yachting, over 115 yachts up to 100 metres in length alongside 500 yachting companies exhibiting their products and expertise.

The show took place around the recently opened Club House of the Monaco Yacht Club. This sustainable new building by Lord Foster is an architectural celebration of sailing. It has a series of deck like terraces which step up from the harbour and allow views of the races at sea or over the land and the Formula 1 Grand Prix Circuit. It was here that we had organised for a collection of our fine paintings to be displayed as part of a Camper and Nicholson preview party.

With 262 years of painting experience and a strong collection of marine artists in the gallery we felt very much at home. It was a great chance to present our art advisory services to variety of our clients, be they first time buyers, seasoned collectors, private individuals, families and corporations. We illustrated how we could lead them through the complexities of the art market to a position of informed decision-making.

61897We followed the evening event up with a day apent visiting the yachts and meeting new clients. A cocktail party on Polar Star felt just like being at home as we were surrounded by a collection of Gladwell’s paintings already hanging on board. A special visit to the yacht Athena saw us travelling 60 metres up the mast in the automatic bosun’s chair. Below decks a fine collection of French master paintings were already hanging to treat us.

It was an amazing few days to celebrate art and the sea.
