ARTIST

CLAUDIA SEYMOUR

Claudia Seymour lives and works in America. Early in her career she studied with two gifted painters in New York, Eleanor Moore and Richard Pionk. She later went on to value the great quality of chiaroscuro, inspired by the timeless tradition of the Northern European and Renaissance masters, and achieved a tangibly realistic effect through the stunning use of lively contrast between a deeply hued background and vibrant colour in the forward planes. Working in oil and pastel, Claudia creates still lifes but with a modern sensibility. Her objective as a traditional, representational painter is to present the infinite beauty of colour in the interaction between light and the scenes and objects she portrays. Claudia’s stunning still lifes have been shown in over one hundred and fifty juried national and international exhibitions, and she has won numerous prizes, including first-place and best-in-show awards. She works only from life, creating scenes that portray a timeless elegance and serenity through her concentration on radiant light and her choice and arrangement of antiques and ceramics, natural objects, fabrics, owers and plants, and other materials.
