ARTIST
JAMES LONGUEVILLE
James Longueville was born in 1942, near Chester. He had a career in Fleet Street journalism until 1972, which is when he began to paint professionally. Most of his works depict the landscape around his south Cheshire studio.
Longueville works in oil, pastel and watercoulour to capture colour, atmosphere and light in his work. He keeps returning to East Anglia and Venice, these two contrasting locations allow him to illistrate his talent for capturing light and colour.
Longueville has won the Patterson Pastel Award twice at the Pastel Society and he was awarded the John White Memorial Prize in 2010 at the Patterson's Venice in Peril Exhibition.
