William Henry Knight was a painter of genre subjects, he gave up a career as a solicitor to become a painter and went to London in 1845, entering the Royal Academy Schools. Knight exhibited at the Royal Academy between 1846 and 1862, he also exhibited at the British Institution and Suffolk Street.
