Gladwell & Patterson are delighted to announce their second year participating in The San Francisco Fall Show. A showcase of an extraordinary range of fine and decorative arts from leading international art, antiques, and design dealers on the West Coast. For 2024, the shows theme is black and white; the timeless appeal and elegant contrast of two juxaposing colours.
Our collection comprises of some of the finest British and European artists from the past one-hundred years. From masterpieces by the exceptional Post-Impressionist artist Gustave Loiseau and Raymond Thibesart our collection of original artworks on display showcase fine art of the highest quality. Alongside these pieces we will exhibit exceptional works by Georges Charles Robin and Alexandre Louis Jacob.
One of the highlights of our exhibition this year focuses on Andy Warhol's 'Candybox' circa 1981, a graphite drawing demonstating his skilled draftsmanship and offering a glimpse into the intricate nature of Warhol's artistic process. He was well known for his keen observation of popular culture and consumerism, and the candy box allowed him to engage with notions of desire, indulgence, and the transient nature of pleasure. The choice of such a seemingly simple and everyday object also aligns with Warhol's interest in elevating mundane items to the status of art, a hallmark of his pop art philosophy.
We are also presenting stunning, new canvases by British contemporary artist Peter Wileman, whose vibrantly coloured abstract landscapes and seascapes are instantly recognisable for their gestural brushstrokes and nautical references and play with the theme black and white.
We hope that you enjoy this collection, and look forward to welcoming you to our exhibition on Booth A at the Festival Pavillion, Fort Mason Centre in San Francisco this October.
