Georgina Potter’s Before the Lambing captures the stillness of a winter field as a flock of ewes gathers under muted light. Painted in the field next to her home, Potter recalls how the sheep kept edging away until she found herself following them down the slope – “they looked pretty freaked out at the end of it,” she laughs. With soft brushwork and gentle tones, the painting reflects both the quiet humour of the moment and the calm anticipation of spring.
