In Dylan Waldron’s garden stands a mature oak grown from an acorn he and his wife planted over thirty years ago, from which the acorns now resting within the bowl were gathered, and not far from his studio he later encountered a hand-turned oak bowl whose material recalled the tree he had watched mature for decades, creating a pleasingly circular narrative in which an acorn becomes a tree, the tree becomes timber, the timber becomes a bowl, and the bowl returns to hold acorns once more.
Dylan Waldron is a British artist known for his meticulous technique and finely detailed paintings. He studied at Stourbridge College of Art and later earned his degree in Art & Design from Wolverhampton Polytechnic in 1976. Since then, he has pursued a full-time career as a painter, exhibiting widely in the UK and internationally.
Waldron's artistic process is deeply rooted in traditional methods, utilising water-based media such as acrylic, gouache and watercolour. He achieves remarkable depth by carefully applying layers of transclucent glazes, giving his paintings a distinctive, highly detailed quality.
Spanning still-life compositions, landscapes, domestic interiors and portraits, Dylan is predominantly influenced by 17th-century Spanish painters, capturing a sense of austerity while highlighting the sensual beauty of his selected subject matter.
