BORIS NIKOLAEV | Bouquet in the Garden

Boris Nikolaev’s sunlit still life glows with impressionist freshness as lilacs spill across a lace-draped table. His loose, shimmering brushwork captures shifting light filtering through foliage, creating depth and a sense of summer air. Nikolaev’s lyrical colour harmonies give this garden tableau a radiant, tranquil presence.
Boris Nikolaev is a contemporary painter known for his luminous still lifes and landscapes, characterised by a refined impressionist sensibility. Born in Russia, he trained at the Repin Institute in St Petersburg, one of the country’s most rigorous and respected academies, where he developed a strong foundation in draughtsmanship, composition and colour theory.
Nikolaev’s work is distinguished by loose, confident brushwork and a subtle understanding of light. Whether depicting garden flowers, interiors or quiet outdoor scenes, he builds form through layered colour and gentle tonal shifts rather than precise detail. This approach lends his paintings a sense of air, movement and immediacy.
