Demester’s harbour scene reflects his engagement with Breton coastal life. Inspired by working boats and busy quays, he applies paint with lively, textured strokes that animate water and figures alike. His technique balances movement with structure, using colour and reflection to convey the energy of the port and the social life that unfolds along the waterfront.
- Demester was born in France on 4th May, 1902. The artist was a pupil of Professor Bertram at the Ecole des Beaux Arts and exhibited at many of the principal exhibitions in France, especially those in Paris.
