  • Raymond Leech, an esteemed artist born in Great Yarmouth in 1949, is known for his evocative and atmospheric paintings. Growing up, Raymond was deeply influenced by his father, who nurtured his early interest in drawing. His artistic journey was further inspired by the works of the Newlyn School, as well as French impressionists such as Degas, Renoir, and Toulouse-Lautrec.

From 1965 to 1970, Raymond honed his skills in fine art and graphics at Great Yarmouth College of Art. Initially, he pursued a career in graphic design. However, the increasing demand for his unique artistic creations led him to dedicate himself entirely to painting. Raymond's repertoire includes oils, watercolours, and pastels, with a particular fondness for capturing the essence and atmosphere surrounding his subjects. He draws considerable inspiration from the figure work of Cornish Newlyn School artists like Stanhope Forbes and Dame Laura Knight, whose fresh and invigorating approach to art deeply resonates with him.
